24 Hours In Paris

Bonjour Mes Amis,

It's only been 24 hours and I am completely in love with this City.  It is exactly what you've pictured in your head or seen on TV.  The cobble stone streets lined with cafés, history at every corner and the smell of bread baking as you walk through the streets!

We arrived late last night and after a trying journey we finally arrived at our apartment in Montmartre.  Expecting the worst and being overjoyed with the result, a cute little Parisian apartment that sleeps the three of us comfortably!! And with that our second wind came with a gust and sent us straight into the streets of Montmartre, with Kristina saying how much she loved Montmartre every turn we took.  A beautiful district of Paris located on the top of a hill overlooking the whole city, it is picturesque.  As we made our way up and down the streets of Montmartre, the music played and the cafe lined streets were filled with the chatter of its patrons, we finally stopped at the famous Sacre Couer, a beautiful cathedral church with the most amazing views of Paris.  To our right the Eiffel Tower lit up the night sky!  As our stomachs growled we made our way back to the centre of Montmartre and found a cafe to eat at!  With live music from two old men playing the guitars, we sat down, ate, drank and laughed the night away.

Today we started our sun shining day off a little later than some wanted (starts with a K ends with ristina) by heading to the Metro and making our way to Jim Morrison's grave.  He rests in a huge, beautiful cemetery that has been in Paris for centuries with his grave decorated with fresh flowers and a picture of this young icon.  My advice, purchase a map when you walk in, I strongly recommend it, as the cemetery winds and twists and really makes no sense at all!  After walking through the streets sightseeing we found a little cafe to have a late lunch at!  The food was amazing, the best I have ever had!!  These Parisians sure know what they are doing.  We then headed to the Champs-Élysées, which is the shopping avenue in Paris filled with many tourists bustling through the crowds, in and out of the shops lining the streets.  The range of shops is esquisite from unique to Couture and the most amazing Louis Vuitton store I have ever seen and to top it all off, at the end of this street stands the historic Arc De Triomphe.  Located in the worlds largest roundabout the arc was commissioned in 1806 by Napoleon to commemorate his victories, but wasn't completed until 1836 as he kept losing, and in 1920 the body of the unknown soldier from WWI was lain beneath the arch.  Our last stop for the day was the iconic Eiffel Tower, which is smaller in person than you would think but nothing less than amazing.  We got there at prime time and with this came a huge lineup, so we decided to wake up early to experience it tomorrow.  I was in awe that I was at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and in awe that I was in Paris!
So far Paris you haven't disappointed me, looking forward to tomorrow's adventures, stay tuned!
