Coconut Oil: Epic Fail

Hi My Friends,

With the lack of television to watch last night I decided to take the night off to get a few things done for my trip and try something new out and as you can tell by my title, it failed!  Most of you don't know this about me but reading instructions carefully or just reading instructions period is something I don't do too well, obviously.

Last night, after speaking with a few friends over my dry hair I tried using coconut oil.  So I went to the store, bought some organic coconut oil, making sure the only ingredient is coconut oil, which I did!  One point for me.  Then I came home and applied it to my hair.  First of all, I was shocked it was hard, so I microwaved it a bit.  Thinking I needed to use it as paste I did that for the first few handfuls.  Yep, you heard me right; handfuls (point lost). On my second round I melted it enough that it was actual oil, yep you heard me; second round (well on my way into the negatives). After my hair was drenched in coconut oil I proceeded to heat up a damp towel and sit for 30 minutes before washing it out.
To put this into perspective, I used at least half a cup, the instructions said to use 1-2 teaspoons.

End result:  I woke up with greasy coconut oil hair.  I showered again this morning and used SOAP in my hair and was able to get some more out, but it's going to take a few more washes defeating the whole purpose.

What I learned:  Always read instructions (To be honest I didn't even think there would be hair instructions as I thought the makers of coconut oil didn't know people used it for hair). But surprisingly there are instructions for hair, cooking and skin use!

I told this funny story to my mom and my friends, you can imagine the laughter I received lol.  I was told to try dish soap like Sunlight or Dawn grease fighting power and tomato juice.

Even with this epic fail, my hair does seem nourished.  I would definitely recommend this treatment but only if done correctly!  As I know it has worked swimmingly for others.

Note to Self:
Don't experiment right before a trip.
Read the instructions.
Coconut oil will melt in your hand from your body heat.

If you have any hair recipes out there let me know, I am always interested in trying something new.

Have a goodie!

Make Me Laugh Monday

Happy Monday My Friends,

Did you all have a great weekend?!  I hope so as the weather turned out to be decent out West!  Let's get right to it!

Big Brother Canada:

Last night we saw the continuation of the HoH competition with Emmett winning!  Leaving Andrew feeling safe and Gary and Talla questioning if they are the targets.  Without missing a beat Gary was up in the HoH room talking game to Jillian and Emmett and then only Emmett when Jill was in the bathroom.  Ballsy I must say.  We saw Andrew kind of act a little annoying complaining about Emmett winning etc.  He is my new favorite now that Peter's gone and I am hoping he doesn't do anything stupid to get himself evicted.  Talla was recruited by Marsha the Moose to complete a secret task; Talking with Talla.  She had to interview everyone in the house and find out information about them that she didn't know, to which she would reply 'I did not know that'.  Winning the competition, she won Talla-Tini's for the whole house! This episode ended with Emmett putting Andrew and Gary on the block, which upset Andrew immensely!  Stay tuned for Wednesday's episode when Big Brother USA champ Dan spends the night in the Big Brother house and a hilarious and daring veto competition!  Who will save themselves from the block?  Andrew or Gary? and will Dan give anyone specific advice?  tune in Wednesday at 6pm on Slice.

One of my favorite CBS dramas: The Good Wife:

Last night we saw Alicia take on a case forced upon her by her mother, where some software company employees try to form a union as they feel they were unjustly asked to sign a contract after a fellow employee of theirs died.  This in turn has the staff at Lockhart/Gardner thinking about forming their own union which doesn't sit well with the partners.  Peter asks Alicia to recommit to him and their marriage, and Alicia is torn, as we the viewers know she has deep feelings for Will.  But in spite of this she does a TV interview in which she boots Peter's ratings which puts him in a close race to be Governor.  Meanwhile, Alicia's mom gets wind of Peter's proposal and runs to Will to inform him he has little time left if he feels as deeply for Alicia.  The episode ends with Alicia accepting Peter's proposal!
What will happen next week?  Scenes for next weeks season finale show her and Will kissing in the car.  Is it a dream or reality?  Guess we'll find out her final decision next week at 6pm EST / 9pm PST on CBS
______________________________________________________________________________

Well tonight may make you laugh only if your a fan of watching re-runs, which is the best way to watch the episodes you've missed, as the only comedy that is new tonight is Rules of Engagement!  BUT something that always has us laughing is the Real Housewives of Orange County, who are back tonight with the Season 8 premier at 7pm on Slice.

How I Met Your Mother Repeat, 5pm EST / 8pm PST on CBS
Rules of Engagement New, 530pm EST / 830pm PST on CBS
2 Broke Girls New, 6pm EST / 9pm PST on CBS
Mike and Molly Repeat, 630pm EST / 930pm PST on CBS

If your looking for a little reality tonight tune into an all New round 3 of battles on The Voice,  at 5pm EST / 8pm PST on NBC; OR If you'd prefer to watch the dancing challenged, an all New Dancing With the Stars starts at 5pm EST / 8pm PST on ABC

For those looking for a little more drama and mystery in their life tune into Bones New at 5pm EST / 8pm PST, 90210 New at 6pm EST / 9pm PST on The CW, The Following New at 6pm EST / 9pm PST on FOX. Revolution New at 7pm EST / 10pm PST on NBC, and Castle New at 7pm EST / 10pm PST on ABC

Fake & Bake vs Sunless Tanning Lotion

Hello my friends,

Well for those of you who may not know I love to fake & bake but you would never be able to tell lol.  I am not one to sit and tan all day while reading a book because lets face it as per my blog, I clearly don't read that much lol.  So taking 10 minutes out of my day to cook my skin for a sun-kissed tan sounded like a plan to me. Over the past few years my friends and family have protested and I have ignored. This year I lost my father to cancer and I still ignored the ramifications of tanning.  Until Friday, it hit me, like a ton of bricks, I sit there cooking my skin and it's not really doing anything but ruining my skin and creating possible cancer. With everything that has happened this year and becoming an Auntie for the second time I have to think more about my actions and examples I set for these little ones and others!  So you will be happy to here that Friday was my last fake & bake ever!!  I promise!

Over the next few weeks you will see updates and posts about my favorite sunless tanners as I embark on this new sunless adventure.  Don't get me wrong, when that sun is shining and it's hot enough, Ill be out there, with my spf 30 on soaking up the vitamin D playing baseball or swimming in the pool!  But for now sunless tanners it is!
Today I started my new sunless tan crusade with Olay Quench Plus with a touch of sun!  As someone with sensitive skin, I was a little leery because I can develop weird bumps on my skin but day 1: so far so good.  This lotion has made my skin feel very smooth, soft and smell delicious!   The best way to apply this lotion is after showering and exfoliating, carefully put the lotion and make sure you rub it in well to avoid streaking.  This product takes a few applications as it is a gradual darkener.   What I hope from this product is a nice sun-kissed look without looking orange!  Please check back later this week to find out how it's coming along.  If you have any comments on this product or other product suggestions, I'd love your feed back!

Have a great day!

Thank Goodness It's Thursday!

Hello My Friends,

Do you remember when I was suspended off of twitter because I am awesome?! No, well for those of you who tried to follow me yesterday as I watched Big Brother and Survivor I was suspended yesterday for being awesome, I guess.  There was no reason given but I am working quickly to eradicate the problem and will hopefully be up and running for Big Brother tonight.  Enough of that lets get right to it!

Survivor last night, what did you all think?  Was it the ultimate shocker?
It wasn't much of a shock for me, as a viewer, as we knew Malcolm had the other hidden immunity idol but it was definitely the ultimate shocker for Phillip, the 'ex CIA secret ops agent'.
Malcolm made the best move last night in Survivor when he showed up with both his immunity idols, one for him and one for Eddie, who had no idea.  Eddie was elated and shocked, you could tell by the dumbfounded look on his face, but the look on Andrea and Phillip's face; priceless.  The fear in their eyes said it all!  And at the end of the day, Malcolm was able to get his nemesis Phillip out, which was A BIG MOVE in the game!  Not to mention, Eric voted for Phillip as well! Boding well for Malcolm, Eddie and Reynolds moving forward!  Next week will be a good episode.  Can Malcolm, Eddie and Reynolds take control of the game?  Stay tuned!

Now on to BIG BROTHER CANADA... which brought out BIG tears for this girl.  Last night we saw as the houseguests continued to talk strategy with Andrew thinking he has a final two deal with Jillian.  Come on really, she will not turn her back on Emmett, which in turn will cost her to lose the game if she and he make it to the final.  The house guests played the power of Veto competition to which Andrew won, yaay (he's becoming one of my faves)!
Although my heart is with Peter, I am happy Andrew won! And even happier baby Emmett didn't, acting like a 5 year old when he CLEARLY cheated.  Additionally, the houseguests were asked to compete in a reward challenge throughout the week where they had to freeze and under no circumstances were they to move or else they would lose the reward for the whole house.
And that's when my tears started to flow, even before the show when they showed clips from this episode, but continued as Andrew's twin Pete walked through the door and Andrew couldn't move at all!  He stood there while his bro hugged him and showed him video of his niece and told him how proud he was as tears streamed down his face and mine!!  I have to give it to him, he is a selfless man, I don't know if I could've done that, put the other peoples rewards in front of my own!  Actually, yes I would've but I would've been really upset afterwards.  Andrew I'm liking you more each and every day!

BUT TONIGHT MY FRIENDS....On a LIVE episode, someone will come back!

Tonight is the night we have been waiting for, tonight we will see who is voted back into the house.  I can't handle the anticipation!!!!  Will it come before the eviction? Will it be Alec?  Gosh, I hope so, Will it be Topaz?  Gosh I hope not!  Will it be AJ? It would be nice for Andrew but I don't know if he'd keep Peter.  Will it be Gary?  He's a wild card so I hope not!  Tune in at 7pm tonight on Slice for the LIVE show!!!!

On a side note:

Dear Peter, Although you may have been left out or shoved to the wayside your entire life wait until you emerge from the Big Brother house to see all the fans you have across the country!!!  So many people are rooting for you and as a fellow surreyite, I am as well!  The whole country loves your wit and charm and the way you yell in the diary room!  Your life has forever changed my friend!  And I can't wait for you to discover it!  xoxo L

Sunday Funday - Review

Hi My Friends,

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Well Sunday Funday has passed and we are now onto Make Me Laugh Monday!  Although there were some repeats last night it was still a good night for entertaining television.

I started my evening off watching and tweeting @ohsolindsay Big Brother Canada:

Tonight's episode showed us the conclusion of the HoH competition with Jillian winning which I am not opposed to, but was hoping Peter would win this one.  With Emmett safe for sure, we watched as Talla grew angry as she continued to fail at all tasks, I love the girl but if she can't win a competition then she should only be mad at herself.  After playing the poor me card Jillian decided to put up Andrew and Peter; Peter being the target this week!  I really enjoyed how they showed Andrew and Talla becoming besties, it was nice to see.  And the ten minutes of Emmett and Jillian kissing, priceless.  Their parents must've been at their proudest moment watching that!
I must admit, being a Peter fan, I don't think he has played the smartest game he could have.  He's had ample opportunities to turn the game around in his favor.  So if he goes on Thursday, it's rightfully so.

Don't forget my friends, you still have tomorrow at midnight to vote for a Jury member to come back into the house.  Will it be AJ or Gary? Two new besties.  Or possibly Alec or Topaz? Old showmancers?

After walking the dogs and cleaning I sat down to watch Celebrity Apprentice:

Australian Gold was the focus of this episode as each team had to come up with a 60 second silent film promoting one of the best tanning lotions in the world!  Project managers; the always funny Gary Busey and the always miserable Trace Atkins.  Both with VERY creative ideas, leaving the judges stumped on whose was better.  What it came down to was product promotion and Australian Gold felt Trace's product placement was better therefore giving the win to Trace and $40,000 to the American Red Cross!
Gary then decided to bring back Penn and Stephen.  During their conversation Gary confessed Penn is his very good friend and should not be in the boardroom to which Donald agreed and excused him from the boardroom.  Elated Penn ran, just incase it was a mistake; leaving Stephen and Gary to duke it out.  At the end of the day Donald fired Stephen as it is the responsibility of the director to include and decide on product placement!
Stay tuned for next week's episode where Gary Busey offends the client at 6-8pm EST / 9-11pm PST on NBC

After crawling into bed under my beautiful, yet cozy Georgina Bedding from Anthropologie I finished my night off with The Good Wife:

For weeks now they have been showing Alicia's internal conflict with her love for Will and devotion to Peter.  Tonight's episode was no exception.  With Will and Alicia working together on a young girls case of rape, they were able to spend more time together and Alicia was able to see Will in many of his charming facets.  As the episode continued we come to find that Cary is planning on leaving the law firm and starting his own practice with all the fourth year associates, which before Alicia was partner, was their plan, to which he asks her to join!  She said it's something she has to think about, rightfully so!  Diane who will be running for Supreme Court Justice if Peter is elected, met with Chief Justice Ryvlan who informed her that unless she cuts ties with Will her chances of becoming Justice is very slim, as he is seen as scum due to his past suspension.  Diane's conflict continues when the partners at her firm find out about her plans on running and feel that she is abandoning the firm just as it's getting back on it's feet.

   OR

With Peter's election coming up, Alicia will be forced to make a decision. Will she go backward and stand by her estranged husband? Or, move forward with the man that she currently loves?
Tune in next Sunday at 6pm EST / 9pm PST on CBS

Catch Make Me Laugh Monday in the next few hours!  And a special blog dedicated to all the may sweeps/season finales!

Have a great Monday my friends

Last Night's Big Brother Episode & New HoH Revealed!

Soooo Big Brother Canada fans... What did you think of last nights double eviction?!

I was shocked and sad to see Alec go, I thought for sure it would've been Topaz.  I am also on team Peter one hundred percent and with Alec leaving Peter's chances get slimmer and slimmer.

Shockingly Emmett chose to put Talla and Topaz on the block leaving the nominations open to the Power of Veto and PETER WON!! Securing himself in the house another week and giving him another life to use wisely!  The show ended with them competing in 'fly the coop' for the HoH position.

***SPOILER ALERT****  DONT READ THE NEXT SENTENCE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHO WON HoH
To keep anonymity highlight the black block below

I have it on good authority that Jillian  won.

BUT, here's the saving grace.  Big Brother Canada is giving us Canadians the chance to vote someone who's been evicted to the jury house back in.  YES you did read me correctly.  SO please click on the link http://bigbrothercanada.slice.ca/ and vote for your favorite to come back!  I am promoting Alec all the way to save PETER!!!!!!!!!! So if you don't have a preference, please vote for Alec!
Who will be the next person to 'fly the coop', find out Sunday at 6pm on Slice

Also, check out Oh So Lindsay this Sunday for a schedule of all the season finale's this spring!

Have a great weekend!

Still being a team Peter fan I am very happy that he won the Power of Veto and pulled himself off the block last night.  I must say though, being a Big Brother fan for years and years along with most of these contestants, WHY would Topaz drop and give up HoH to Jillian? and Alec?!!!!! What were you thinking GIVING UP the Veto challenge?!!! You would've won!!!  Time and time again people go back on their word and break their promises and THIS, just because it's Canadian and we are a nicer breed, is NO different.  With a surprise LIVE DOUBLE EVICTION tonight, anything can go... tune in at 7pm PST on Slice to see which two will be eliminated!  This should be an episode to watch!!
Any predictions?

Monday Shmunday

Why Hello My Friends,

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

I would like to say CONGRATULTIONS to my friends Natasha and Tyler for getting hitched this weekend.  The rain held out and the sun peaked through the clouds for them!  Enjoy your honeymoon in Jamaica!!!

What is a Schmunday you ask?  It's when your having a blah day; tired, cranky, wanting the day to end and move into Tuesday and hoping to laugh your day away only to find out all your television shows are repeats!

Yes, that's exactly what Schmunday means to me; tired and waiting way too patiently for the day to end!  And with bad news....Tonight will not make you laugh your day away as the only thing new is The Voice and there are only two comedies on repeat.  BUT the good news is CBS has scheduled one of the repeats to be The Big Bang Theory, like Friends, it can be watched over and over and over again and not get old!

With this lack of entertainment, I will be taking full advantage of getting some household chores in and calling it an early evening!

What does schmunday mean to you?

How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest of Your Life) - Hit or Miss?

Hi my friends,

Sooooo... What did you think of this show last night???

My opinion; I wasn't too impressed. :(

As someone who still lives with her parents, I was expecting something a little different.  There were times I laughed but my high hopes of this show weren't fulfilled.  Usually the pilot isn't the best as its an introductory episode so more often than not it is disappointing.  I love the actors and I love the premise so I will give it my 3 episode try and keep you all updated!

Big Brother Past, Present & Future

Hi my friends,

It's been awhile since I have done a Big Brother Canada blog but its never to late!  So many things have happened over the past two weeks!! Double eviction, surprise eviction, secrets revealed.  All of which have been compelling and Team Peter is still alive and kicking in the Big Brother House.

It all started a few weeks ago when Gary put Tom and Liza on the block and with the double eviction they were both voted out of the Big Brother Canada house.  My favorite player, Peter, left some jaw dropping goodbye messages for Tom and Liza.
Tom you are amazing.....ly awful at this game, you are impulsive and irrational and even though stupid is curable ignorance is forever.  Don't worry about Liza, I'll keep her warm.
'Liza you are the only person i could be myself with,  its a shame you didn't pick brains over brawn because now your gone!'
One of the wittiest people on television, unscripted to boot!  It takes me an hour to come up with one liners or comebacks and by that time its too late lol.

The next HoH is won by Alec, who chooses to nominate AJ and Suzette, with AJ being the pawn.  As Suzette begins to become more and more annoying, third person talker AJ starts to grow on me.  Neither of them win power of veto and the nominations stay the same.  Alec manages to get Suzette voted out and AJ is safe.

We move onto this past Sunday's episode, where Topaz wins HoH and it is revealed it's surprise eviction night!  Topaz is sequestered in the HoH room with only five minutes to make a decision of who she wants to put up and with no input from her house mates. Unbeknownst to her she can be seen and heard through the television by all her house mates and she stupidly thinks OUTLOUD for everyone to hear.  Creating a bad situation as she reveals her real thoughts about everyone in the house.  When her five minutes is up she comes downstairs and nominates AJ and Andrew and with no veto competition, one of them will be leaving.  AJ is evicted from the Big Brother house and handles it with class!  When talking to Arisa he predicts Jillian will be the winner, do you agree?  I've discussed it with one of my friends and we both agree, now that he pointed it out she does actually have a good chance at winning the show.

Another HoH is held, it comes down to the wire between Talla and Andrew with Andrew winning... Hmmm I wonder who he will put up?!  Perhaps Topaz? After she revealed her true feelings about him!!  He also has the power to choose four people for slop.  Peter graciously takes one for the team bc he has not been on slop yet and Gary acts like someone killed his pet.  He cries and cries and CRIES! Talk about a food lover, for someone like myself, being on slop would be an awesome crash diet, for Gary I think some of his glitter died.  Andrew nominates Topaz (shocker) and Gary.

Who will win the power of Veto? Will Topaz or Gary be taken off the block?  Find out Wednesday night at 6pm on Slice.

Happy Big Brother Canada watching!

All New Series and Make Me Laugh Monday

Hi my friends,

Well after an amazing birthday and the buzz of Easter chocolate starting to wear off, it's time for me to introduce a few new shows coming into the mix this week!

Series Premiere April 3rd 6:30pm EST / 9:30pm on ABC
How to Live with Your Parents (For The Rest of Your Life)
When Polly moved in with her eccentric parents post-divorce, she told herself it wasn't forever. Now, a year later, it's feeling like a life sentence.  This is DEFINITELY one to watch!  I still live at home with my parents, so I am excited to see how my life relates!

Series Premiere April 4th 7pm EST / 10pm PST on NBC
Hannibal
Watch Thomas Harris' classic novels unfold and come to life in this new thrilling drama about a psychiatrist-turned-serial-killer, Dr. Hannibal

Series Premiere April 9th 6pm EST / 9pm PST on NBC
Ready For Love
The series begins with the matchmakers' nationwide search for the potential perfect mate for each man, and then launches into a romantic journey that will combine in-studio competition and reality show elements. Each week, the women who fail to make a connection with the men will be sent home. In an intense finale, the quest for love culminates when the three men choose their final three women who together must decide if they'll get engaged, married, or simply live happily ever after. No matter what happens, they will all discover if they are really "Ready for Love."
Hosts Bill and Guiliana Rancic will host this show along side of three of the best matchmakers in the world trying to answer the age old question of: How far would you go to find your soul mate?

Make me laugh Monday is on repeat because of Easter Monday but if you're in the need of some laughs check them out, just because its on repeat doesn't mean it loses its laugh-o-meter!!  But the repeats also give you the chance to each an all NEW Voice, featuring amazingly talented singers! And the coaches ain't too bad themselves!

If none of this appeals to you catch up on some long overdue PVR! That's what I'll be doing :)

Hope you all had a great long weekend! Happy watching!
